The Heart Behind the Stories
Every great story begins somewhere.
For ours, it began with a little boy nicknamed Scooter Magoo and an orange rescue dog we called Pumpkin. Scooter Magoo has been my son's nickname since he was a baby. To this day, none of us remember exactly how it started but somehow it stuck, and it became part of who he was.
Pumpkin's real name was Ani, but because of her warm golden coat, her nickname was Pumpkin. I rescued her when she was about six months old, and she became my constant companion for more than fourteen wonderful years.
Through some of life's happiest moments and some of its hardest, Pumpkin was always by my side. She and Titus formed a friendship that was full of unconditional love, laughter, and adventure. When Pumpkin passed away, we both missed her deeply. Creating these stories became a way to keep her spirit alive.
Every adventure is inspired by the joy they shared together and by the belief that kindness, curiosity, and imagination can take us anywhere.
My son Titus inspires the Scooter Magoo character. His adventurous spirit, endless curiosity, kind heart, and wonderfully imaginative personality became the foundation for the little explorer you'll meet throughout the series. He also had a moose sweater as seen here that he LOVED - the hoodie became the staple look for Scooter Magoo and his adventures.

Meet the Real Pumpkin
Pumpkin was obsessed with bubbles, squirrels and exploring outdoors. She loved paddleboarding with me, had the sweetest heart, endless loyalty and an adventurous spirit that perfectly matched Scooter's.
In every story, Pumpkin reminds us that the greatest adventures are even better when shared with your best friend. The dynamic between Scooter and Pumpkin is hilariously and adorably represented in the series.

Every adventure begins with an ordinary day... Until Pumpkin discovers something extraordinary. A mysterious stick that magically transforms into a map. Before Scooter realizes what's happening, the magical map whisks them away...
Scooter and Pumpkin are whisked away to incredible places around the world where they explore, discover amazing landmarks and wildlife, learn about new cultures, help others and solve problems before returning home to realize no time passed and no one even knew they were gone.
Going to bed at night Scooter falls asleep gazing at his nightlight, a globe of the earth, wondering where the magic map will take them tomorrow.
Why This Matters
In a world that often feels rushed, I wanted to create stories that encourage children to slow down, ask questions, explore the world with open hearts, and discover the beauty in people, places, and nature. Scooter and Pumpkin remind us that courage isn't about being fearless—it's about being curious, kind, and willing to help others wherever our adventures take us.

Building Their World
Every great story begins with imagination. While I'm searching for the illustrator who will help bring Scooter and Pumpkin to life, I've been exploring different artistic directions to discover the heart and personality of their world.
